Job Description
Hamptons United Methodist Church seeks enthusiastic, attentive adult to help, support, and motivate campers as they participate in our August program. Camp aides will receive training to fully support the activities of the children while ensuring their health and safety.
Camp aides will help plan events, group activities, monitor campers and respond to incidents, such a behavioral problems or injuries. The main responsibility of a camp aide will be to oversee the safety and well-being of the campers.
Aides should be upbeat, decisive, and responsible, as well as possess great communication skills with staff and parents.
Responsibilities:
  • Work with other camp staff to contribute ideas.
  •  Support campers as they participate in appropriate activities
  • Monitor campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and regulations
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain proper use of camp area and equipment
  • Report details of incidents/injuries to camp director and assistant director.
  • Responsible for promptly filling out incident reports as needed.
  • Create and maintain your emergency bags with the proper material needed (This bag you will take when leaving the building… walking trips etc.)
  • Help lead campers during all emergency procedures
  • Participate in pre-camp training and all staff meetings
  • Ensure policies and practices in staff manual are followed such as our safe sanctuary policy etc.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in camps or with children or in a camp setting
  • High level of responsibility and accountability
  • Upbeat, engaging personality
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
Details:
Dates: July 15 Mandatory staff training and orientation
Aug 8-Sept 2 program dates with campers
Camp Work Hours: 9am-4pm
Aug 28 or 29 Additional evening work hours for end of camp celebration
